The Nazareth Cross project aims to strengthen all of the people of Nazareth. It also will dramatically improve the atmosphere for its citizens, tourists, and visiting pilgrims. But at the core of this effort are the people of the city. This is why over half of the project’s income will be invested back into to the Nazareth community.
As a guarantee for the indigenous character of the Nazareth Cross project, it is managed and developed by the Foundation of Nazareth, a group of local leaders and clergymen: Bishop Riah Abu Al-Asal, Dr. Jaber Khoury, Dr. Mary Mashour, Adv. Elias Shukry, Mr. Adi Bajaly, Mr. Talal Musalam (C.P.A), Mr. Rashid Safurry, Mr Nizar Bulos, and Hisham Saad (C.P.A).
The Chairman of the Foundation is Bishop Riah Abu Al-Asal.
The Foundation will carry out the distribution of all the proceeds dedicated to the community of Nazareth for the betterment of the city. These include support for accredited Christian institutions and micro-business loans, focusing on children and small enterprise. This local character of the Foundation will guarantee its objective functioning and will enable it to choose the most relevant targets for assistance, with the purpose of activating the city’s own potential.
Tiles - Bringing to Remembrance
The fascia of the Cross of Nazareth will be made of brilliant mosaic tiles in stone and precious metals. 7.2 million tiles will cover this majestic structure, each one engraved with a name. The purchaser will be able to choose both the material and location of the tile on the cross.
By acquiring a tile with your inscription, you are connecting to the Holy Land in a most unique and profound manner. In the very heart of Nazareth, where the Virgin Mary heard that she had found favor with God, you will declare your belief in God’s mercy towards you or a loved one for generations to come. In doing so, you also help to inspire the people of Jesus’ hometown today, and the visitors they welcome from all over the world. Most importantly – you are bringing to remembrance God’s great love and sacrifice shown through the cross.
By helping to build the Nazareth Cross, you are identifying with the universal symbol of Christianity – right where the Bible tells us that the Angel Gabriel told the Virgin Mary she would bear a Son –
and name Him Jesus.
