New York to Tel Aviv Flight Service Routine

El Al

During the years I have worked as a flight attendant for El-Al Israeli airlines, I have found that many passengers are very interested in the flight service routines the flight crew commits along the way. In this article I will structure the details that make the cross-Atlantic flight service routines, and will chronologically specify when, where and how long every part of the service routine takes place in tourist class. Please note that every step of this routine starts at the last row and ends at the front row.

-01:30 – Fight Crew briefing: getting to know the crew, pilots and purser, and safety movie presentation. Flight attendants are also divided between passenger classes (first, business and tourist) and aircraft zones.

- 01:00 - The flight Crew boards the aircraft, and makes arrangements for the flight. This includes counting the number of meals, marking the special meals, etc.

- 0:45 till – 0:15 – Boarding time.

- 0:05 – Turn on the ovens and start warming up the meals.

0:00 - Take off

0:20 – Fasten seatbelt sign is off, and attendants start serving drinks. Meanwhile, the galley attendant makes sure that both trolleys are full, and that the meal is ready to serve as soon as the trolleys return to the Galley. If this is a morning flight, then breakfast and warm drinks will be served at this time (skip to 0:45).

0:40 – Two attendants walk around with a garbage bag, while the rest serve the special meals and prepare the food trolleys for serving.

0:45 – Dinner (or Breakfast) is being served, along with a warm bon or bagel.

1:05 – Two attendants start serving coffee, tea and Sabra liquor.

1:15 – All meals have been served, and the trolleys go back to the last row in order to start picking up the trays.

1:30 – All trays have been picked up, and the lights are turned off for sleep. At this time, movies start showing, and half of the attendants go to get some rest. If this is a morning flight, the duty free trolley will make a round.

5:00 – Change of shifts, the other half of the attendants go to sleep while those who just woke up serve a snack for those passengers who are not sleeping.

8:45 – Attendants start making breakfast – warming up the bagels and coffee pots. If this was a morning flight, a round of drinks will be handed out, followed by a warm dinner according to the dinner proceedings detailed above.

9:00 Breakfast is being served along with warm drinks and a bagel.

9:30 Breakfast is being picked up.

9:45 Duty free trolley makes a round.

10:30 Warm Turkish towels for refreshment are handed out and then picked.

10:40 Fasten seatbelt sign is turned on

11:00 Landing + Applause

Enjoy your flight!

Tel Aviv - Eat all night….

As A young man who lives in the center of Tel Aviv and been to a fair amount of known cities worldwide, I can proudly say that if you are a late night eater (like me) Tel Aviv is the place for you! Tel Aviv’s 24/7 night life and attractions are getting to be a known fact throughout the world. Restaurants in Tel Aviv are affected be the vivid nightlife and accept orders till the middle of the night. In addition, Tel Aviv has a huge amount of 24/7 restaurants such as the famous Dixie restaurant Odeon and many more.

The only other city that matches Tel Aviv’s “night eating life” is of course New York.
Even in San Francisco where I lived for  more then a year  if you get hungry during the night  you better hope you have something to microwave…

Here are some recommendations on my favorite restaurants in Tel Aviv -
Tapeo
NG
Giraffe
Amore mio
Kyoto
And many more…

Jaffa - The Old City and the Port

jaffa

Old Jaffa is one of the most attractive places to tour in Tel Aviv-Jaffa. The city which has always been the entry to the ancient land of Israel is succeeding, even today, its traditional aromas and fragrances which have always characterized it: beautiful stone buildings, narrow, winding alleys, a fishermen?s port, artists? quarter, cafés s, restaurants and shops.

In Jaffa there are ancient churches, which are among the most beautiful in Israel, serving the city’s Christian community, with open doors for visitors and the faithful.

It is recommended walk to Jaffa along the Tel Aviv Promenade, which begins in North Tel Aviv and ends at the Jaffa Port. On the way, you pass the skyscrapers of the business center of South Tel Aviv and then you reach Old Jaffa. Like using a magic wand, moving from modern Israel to the magical Israel of bygone times, with city walls and stone buildings with arches. Instead of bustling, crowded streets there are narrow alleys and stone steps. In the center of the activity is the Clock Square, where can be found the Clock Tower built by the Turkish Sultan Abed-el-Hamid II in 1906. This is the traditional starting point for tours of Jaffa.

A Little Bit About Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv, often called ?the city that never stops,? was the first modern Jewish city built in Israel, and is the country?s economic and cultural center. It is a lively, active city with entertainment, culture and art, festivals, and an active night life.

Situated on a 14-kilometer-long strip on the Mediterranean seacoast, Tel Aviv extends beyond the Yarkon River to the north and the Ayalon River to the east. Hundreds of thousands of workers, visitors, tourists, and partygoers move about the city each day until the early hours of the morning, seeking out the city?s nightclubs, restaurants, and centers of entertainment.
