We at Israel On Blog, support all programs that offer summer programs in Israel. One of the better programs we discovered recently is “Tzofim Chetz V’Keshet”. here are the details:
Tzofim Chetz V’Keshet offers the only Israel summer program where teenagers from across the globe discover Israel alongside other Israeli teenagers from the Israeli Scout movement. Together, Israelis, North Americans, South Americans and European kids pray at the Kotel, snorkel in the Red Sea, and undergo a week-long army training, Gadna, that mirrors what every Israeli experiences upon entering the IDF.
Hebrew Language Immersion!
Because the program is led together with the Educational Division of the Israeli Army, each group leader is capable of teaching Hebrew to non-speaking teenagers in an informal setting. Because of the Israeli leaders and Israeli chanichim, every teenager on CVK’s program will be immersed in the Hebrew language.
This is not done through a classroom setting. Rather, while pitching tents at an army base, climbing Masada at sunrise and experiencing the mystical city of Tzfat, Israeli teenagers will be talking to the other chanichim in Hebrew. This fosters a safe environment for every teenager, whether they know Hebrew fluently or have never heard a word in their life, to truly grasp the language by the time the summer is over.
Gadna!
Tzofim Chetz-V’Keshet runs a week-long Army training experience directly through the Israeli Defense Forces. Because of CVK’s close relationship with the IDF, chanichim experiencing Gadna are doing so with their full-time summer counselors. Every chanich will learn to pitch a tent, shoot a gun and experience life as a real Israeli training for the Army.
Security, Security, Security!
Tzofim Chetz V’Keshet is the only teen summer program directly supervised by the Israeli Defense Forces. This means direct contact between each group and the IDF regarding current security guidelines and 24/7 communication with the Tzofim CVK information center in Israel.
Israeli Hospitality!
CVK offers the opportunity for chanichim to spend Shabbat with a typical Israeli family. All of the Israeli peers on CVK will invite their new friends into their homes to celebrate the day of rest while experiencing an average weekend in the life of an average Israeli citizen.
